Sorrowful anniversary, the ninth day of the month of Av
The period of sorrowful events in the Jewish historical sequence begins with the month of Tammuz and culminates in the month of Av.
It is the greatest sorrowful anniversary and coincides with the 9th day of the month of Av, because it marked tragic events in Jewish history (the destruction and fall of the First Temple in Jerusalem by the Babylonians 586 B.C.E. and the Second Temple 70 C.E. by the Romans, the expulsion of the Jews from Spain).
